Prior to Joining the 350th FG, Glenn Dow flew as co-pilot with the 464th Bomb Group in B-24s. There was a special regulation that permitted brothers to serve in the same unit, and Glenn's brother, Hugh "Rowdy" Dow as CO of the 346th FS of the 350th FG arranged for Glenn to transfer to his squadron as a P-47 Pilot.

Looking forward to joining his brother, Glenn was enroute and it was only upon his arrival at the 350th that he learned that brother Hugh had been shot down behind enemy lines only a couple of days before and was MIA. Sometime later, it was learned that Hugh had been captured and was a POW.
